"Making Believe" was written by Jimmy Work, a country music singer-songwriter who was born on March 10, 1924, in Akron, Alabama. Work wrote the song in 1951, and it was first recorded by Kitty Wells in the same year. The song became a hit and is considered a classic country standard. Besides "Making Believe," Work also wrote other country songs such as "That's What Makes The Jukebox Play" and "I Loved You More." Work passed away in 1994 at the age of 70.
